How does planetary mahadasha (sequence) in horoscope decide?
1. There are 27 Nakshatras.
2. Each Nakshatra has a Vimshottari dasha Lord.
3. For e.x. if you are born in Ashwini Nakshatra. The dasha Lord is Ketu.
4. Hence your Dasha will start from Ketu dasha.
5. The remaining degrees help us calculate the portion of ketu dasha that is remaining.
6. Why this Lordship of Nakshatras? There are multiple reasons and requires study.
7. This is the order of dashas from where it starts.
Here is the list of sequence and the duration of each planet during its Mahadasha:
Sun for 6 years
Moon for 10 years
Mars for 7 years
Rahu for 18 years
Jupiter for 16 years
Saturn for 19 years
Mercury for 17 years
Ketu for 7 years
Venus for 20 years
For example. If the persons dasha starts with Ketu dasha and then next dasha will be Venus and then Sun dasha. There is a reason for this sequence as well.
