BPHS – Timing of Marriage

Hello All- In BPHS- Chapter 18- Shlok 22-42 deals with timing of events related to Marriage.

Let us all start from Shlok 22 which states- If 7th lord is in a benefic house (5 or 9) while Venus is exalted -native will marry at age of 5 or 9.

Can we now test with the different combinations what can be the marriage age in this? such as 7th lord in 5th house – one of the marriage will be 27 as using the 12 year cycle in the chart.

Let us now bring charts with 7th lord in 5th and 9th with marriage ages.

      girish.kumar.s Ji- apologies, it was an attempt at breaking down the pattern which doesnt seem right.

      I think what the shloka says that if venus is exalted and 7th lord in 5th house then marriage will be in 5th year or thereafter using progression would be in either of 16, 27, 38 years and so on and if venus is exalted and 7th lord is in th 9th house then the marriage is in the 9th year or thereafter in any of 20, 31, 42 and so on

      for deviations in charts many of us have shared, we need to check whats causing the deviation. I havent done that exercise yet.

      Hello Sir, This topic made me laugh as i am Scorpio asc and 7th lord Venus in Pisces in 5th House. I completed 26 years on 2006 and on the first day of 27th year i got married. 5th house as per the planetary code was activated. i will start research on others in the 9th house and 5th house.

      I have narrowed my search to scorpio asc (to combine the search criteria of venus exalted and 7th lord in 5th house)
      few data points from astro data bank-
      1) Maud Adams – has 7th lord venus exalted in 5th house. married at the age of 21
      2) Robert Amadou- has 7th lord venus exalted in 5th house. married at the age of 24
      3) Amdrew welsh- has 7th lord venus exalted in 5th house. married at the age of 27
      will run similar searches with other asc to see if the result varies, but it looks like a formula of 9+12 and thereafter every three years. Regards, Namrta

      Birth Detail. 18 OCT 1979, Time 15.16.16 After BTR. Place Jalandhar Punjab, Coordinates 75E34’00”,31N19’00”.

      ASC: Aquarius.

      Ke- Lagna

      Ma- 6th House cancer Debilitated

      Sa-Ra-Ju – 7th House Leo

      Mo- 8th House Virgo

      Ve-Su-Me – 9th House Libra.

      So 7th Lord Su goes to 9th House Libra and Venus in Libra in Own Rashi. Marriage happens in start of 31 year on Nov 2009.

      What i understood from the shaloka that when the 7th lord in 5 or 9 House and Venus is in Own house or in Exalted House. The marriage will happen on the activation age of that house where 7th lord is placed.
      In this chart the 7th lord is in 9th House and 9th house is activated at the age of 31.

      Above native is born in 25th march,1995 and her 27th year is running as per 12 years per house system.She is gpoing to be engaged on 24th and planning to get married on makar sakranti next year.
      As sir said 7th karak and lord to be well placed like in 5th and 7th houses then person gets married easily.In above chart karak guru is well placed in 5th but lord is not in good postion ie 8th house.Native did not consult family members for the marriage and tried to contacted groom’s family members herself.She got this offer through matrimonial site.Family members are not happy with her decision and just involved to get her to marry fast as this girl is quite problamatic.So in 27th year she is getting engaged and married however not easily.
      I have just covered this live example around me and not astro bank data.For sure i also look for astro data bank charts.

      5H will be activated at years : 5, 16, 27, and so on
      Similarly 9H will be : 9, 20, 31 and so on

      It’s as per the house code on 12 year cycle.
      You can also add 11 to each consecutive year.

      I know one chart Venus exalted in 11 house with sun. 12 lord in 7 9th lord in 7[ saturn Mars in 7 house] . married by 22- 23 then divorced early more of contract marriage. now 36 still waiting for real marriage …

      Hi Ankit,

      The deviation is because of two things:

      1. 7th lord should be a shubha rashi and not shubha bhava.. so rashis of mercury moon venus jupiter will come into picture.

      2. Venus has to be swa or uchha.. meaning own house or exalted.. not just exalted

      These are my observations as per sanskrit shloka.

      When I looked at the charts compiled by Aseem from this angle, these quite sum up. We have to ignore houses where venus is not in libra, taurus or pisces. and 7th lord not in benefic sign.

      one chart I know she has 7th lord mars in 9th house with debilitated Jupiter and dispositor saturn is in Lagna and lagan lord is in 11th house in Pisces with sun..so she gets married at the age of running 22nd year..11th house was running and exalted venus with sun placed there..its dispositor jupitor is sitting in 9th house with 7th lord exalted mars

      @DeepDas ji. I have questions on the calculations of the 9th house when 7th lord is placed in that house. Based on a 12-year progression based on my understanding 9, 9+12=21, 33, 45 should be the case. I think i am missing something as similarly I was not able to follow some of the calculations of the 5th house when it as the 7th lord. Can you please help with the calculations. thanks a lot for your help.

      Deep Das ji thank you for the hardwork of compiling charts as it helped quickly scan through all of them-
      I think the rule is when there are benefics in 7th like Venus or Moon even with debilated contdition -Marriage happens early but the moment 7th house get malefic like Mars or Saturn -there is delay in marriage.

      If you look at first chart where 7th lord -its dispositor and conjuctions and aspects all are malefics but still married at 27 as Venus is in 7th house although debilated.

      While malefics don’t like any other human when placed in 7th house.

      Concept is: 7 th lord in 5th or 9th ( mens well placed ) and Venus is in own sign or in exaltation like in 5th or in 9th
      27 th year or 31st year marriage.
      and we check for exception..

      Elizabeth Taylor’s chart is interesting. even though 7th lord venus is exalted and in 5th- its sitting with Rahu which is placed in the 8th house in D9. so Rahu blocked the marriage at age 16 and only when the 7th house taurus was activated in age 18, did she get married.

      I think one base rule that applies to the dictum is that venus should be in exaltation.

      @Namrtaji Yes I believe so and rahu may have given multiple marriage though I have not checked the D9 chart the dictum says on rashi chart.so I only following the rashi chart.As per sir age is mentioned 27and I may be incorrect Taurus has to play a role.as perrashi house 27 is the house of taurus.even I observed on some cases 7th lord well placed also work.not only exaltation of venus.

      I observed 2 things for Laura. One was she is not married. just staying with partner as per Wiki. Plus the calculation you mentioned earlier that 9+12 and every 3 years also does not match as she started with partner at age of 31 which was activating her 9th house which is 7th Lord.

      I did some more research in these following charts:
      1. Elizabeth Taylor : married at the age of 18 scorpio ascendent 7th lord exalted in 5th house.
      2.Bo :Taurus ascendent 7th lord exalted in 9th house.fall in love at the age of 16 got married at the age of 19th with the same John derek.here one thing i observe that though the karak venus in libra(wellplaced) but in sixth house still giving early marriage.
      3.Demi moore : Aquarius ascendent 7th lord in deblited in 9th with venus got married at the age of 17.
      As above sir mentioned above karaka and 7th lord is most important role in giving early marriage.one confusion here in demi moore chart 7th lord is deblited in 9th house still giving early martiage.

      In both cases her 10th house Leo was active in 10house. Sun being karaka for 5th house i think Venus got activated and Sun with mars in 3rd house makes a connection of Venus and Mars and she got married.

      Married at age of 27 in 1986.
      Venus in 5th house and Mars in 7th house which makes Venus and mars activated which helped. Karkara of 7th house Venus and Venus being exalted helped.

      So I did some more research with other asc as well. For example
      Laura Pausini, Libra asc with Mars in gemini (7th lord in 9th) and venus exalted. Married at the age of 31 (dictum matches I think)

      I started to think that the deviation of age 21 and 24 is only in case of scorpio asc as venus also acts 7th lord.

      I knew a native who has Scorpio ascendent Venus exalted in 5th house with moon ketu and merc native started love affire at the age of 17 and got married in 20th year asper the house code 20th year will be in 9th house and 9th lord in 5thwith exalted venus native got socially approved marriage. Asper my understanding though itwas very difficult to approve as native got easily married to one of their relative.so here venus and 9thlord must have played great role .

      I think what Rishi Parashar wanted to convey was – If both lord and karakas are well placed -events happens easily when that house is activated but until and unless we test it on several charts we will never know exception on this.
