Generally trikona are good for planet to be in.
But for Libra ascendant with venus as 1st and 8th lord sitting in 5th house..in laws are not good in behaviour with native, they are of lower status, same applies for Aries with mars as 1st and 8th lord sitting in 9th house. Why is it so? If someone can elaborate!!

I am not sure, if In-laws has anything to do with lagna lord placement although for Libra, Aries ascendants..
I think it will be wise to look at lagna-lord and 3Rd lord (father in law) and lagna – lord and 10th lord (Mother in law).
If they are in 6/8, 2/12 positions, there may be a problem.
You can also add, if Moon (MIL) / Sun (FIL) placed in 7th or 12th from Upapada Lagna – can cause issues.
every house or planet has its plus & negative points.. so if Venus is acting malefic in terms of relations in-laws but might be giving good results for the first house significations like personality, health or intellect.. 8th house energies can be utilized in research work, astrology, occult studies so, maybe that native is called upon to spend his time there to learn those lessons that might help him/her to overcome negativity..
