Ask him to plan better and take the advice of an experienced teacher while planning.
He tries to study in his own way by creating his own plan which is sort of unconventional. However, lack of experience can cause some trouble to him. Further, he shouldn’t be comfort-oriented in hardwork. I don’t mean that he should be uncomfortable, but what I mean is that he should keep JEE as the topmost priority goal and keep his comfort/free time/sleep/relaxation/etc below that – he is currently not doing this at full potential and is over-optimistic. Taking inputs from friends may be fine but taking serious advice from friends may not be the best idea as they also lack experience.
His preparation is good and fast, he grasps things very quickly and very logically, and also finds unique solutions – this is a good strength for JEE.
Some people crack JEE in more than attempt. If your son wants to get through in the first shot or with lesser attempts, I would suggest him to practice a very high number of past papers and mock papers (not just question banks, but actual past papers) – else he may get stuck.
Take care of health during preparations and especially during exams – consume healthy and hygienic food and water. Avoid cold food.
Some chances of bad stomach / chest congestion here or there are possible, nothing to worry.
Ask your son not to study the same thing from many different places at once. Exploring or studying variety is good, but he should have one or two single sources on which he can fully rely. He should master these sources properly. Also better to focus on a particular concept and move to the next concept only after studying the previous one properly.
Avoid distractions related to entertainment. Resolve confusion related to study material in early days itself. Reduce talking to people, especially girls :P.
Let your son understand and make changes, need not push him. I would also suggest you to worry less about him – looks like you lose sleep and stay tensed about him, keep worrying about him constantly. God is there to look after everyone and everything – whatever he decides is best even if we don’t agree temporarily, we thank him later.
