You have to see Lagna Bala, Chandra Bala, nakshatra Bala
Lagna Bala: Lagna should preferably be a fixed sign with Jup/Ven/Mercury in it. Movable signs shall be avoided, dual signs are just ok. 4th house should be empty from Lagna. Malefics shall occupy upachayas (3,6,10,11).
Chandra Bala: Your Janma rasi shall not be in 6,8,12 rasis from that day’s moon sign
Nakshatra Bala: Your Janma nakshatra shall be in 2,4,6,8,9 or 1 from that day’s nakshatra.
Also, the muhurtha shall be panchaka rahita. Google search for understanding it, it’s a simple calculation.
Rohini, Anuradha, Mrigashirsha, Chitra, Uttar Phalguni, Uttar Bhadrapad, Uttarshadha and Revati nakshatras are suitable. Some other nakshatras are also used.
There are some difference of opinions based on regions.
