I think I can proudly say that I am a Sanyasi. I am staying alone for many years, don’t have any friends & now doing a job. I have no desires left and I feel quite good all the time. All the problems are now vanished.

So, is it a correct time to become a Monk in Public ?

  1. If you’re proud of being a sanyasi, then you’re anything but a sanyasi. Your description is not near sanyas. Try listening to Osho.

  2. Yash is right. If you are proud about being a Sanyasi then you aren’t really a Sanyasi. You still need to renunciate your Pride. Plus it doesn’t makes a difference if you are a Closet Sanyasi or a Monk in Public, you would still be you. Just how you show yourself will change.
Regarding lack of desires and vanishment of problems. This could be a temporary phase. What will you do when desires and problems come back? Would you renunciate being a Monk. Many monks have tons of desires and problems. What will you do then?
Well so in short, personally I don’t think you are ready to take this step since 1. you still have a doubt about this question and 2. You are asking about this on a public forum instead of deciding yourself.
Work on yourself, do some sadhana first. Isha yoga center, Coimbatore is a great place to have some alone time and see lives of real renunciates and Monks. Go there and do some Sadhana first. Find a proper guru. Take your time. Once you have enough CLARITY to decide this question by yourself, decide then.
Hope it helps and you find your way yourself. Best of luck.

  3. If you are destined to become sanyasi then life will automatically take you to the respected guru.
Being completely spiritual/a monk/ to be a guiding light to others isn’t easy. one have to be heartly a monk without any desires, any kind of pride, any kind of greed, lust etc. There are examples of people who had everything in their lives but since they were destined to become sanyasi at some point they were enlightened automatically and met guru. For example mirra alfassa, Sri aurbindo, and others.
